Designer Virgil Abloh collaborated with Pioneer DJ to create ‘skeleton’

Fashion designer and DJ Virgil Abloh collaborated with Pioneer DJ to create custom off-white and transparent CDJs and a mixer.

Transparent versions “Skeleton” models of the CDJ-2000NXS2 and DJM-900NXS2 to be exhibited at the highly anticipated “Figures of Speech” Exhibition, Chicago Museum of Modern Art, June 2019.

The exhibition is the first to look at Abloh’s work that transcends industries, connecting music, fashion and architecture.

QUOTE FROM VIRGIL ABLOH

“As a means to give a new look and feel to the industry standard of the CDJ and DJM I aimed to design a see-thru and non-labeled rendition of the classic models to inspire a different sound while DJing. And perhaps a new way for music technology and human interaction to equal a different result.”

QUOTE FROM AKIO MORIWAKI, PRESIDENT AND CEO, PIONEER DJ

“Virgil Abloh's creations can’t be defined by genre. He boldly connects various art forms, demonstrating unlimited creative possibilities to audiences around the world, and this embodies DJing. Supported by DJs who straddle the boundaries of music and creating new stories, this year, the CDJ series will celebrate its 25th anniversary. We hope that our collaboration with Virgil Abloh will trigger a new story for our customers and our company, and lead to the further development of DJ culture.”

Under the slogan, "BEYOND THE MUSIC," we will contribute to the creation of richer musical experiences and the development of culture.
