Today we suggest you to get acquainted with one more female DJ Rony Labelle. Read an interview with a charming brunette, but very careful! It is so easy to fall in love with this positive, energetic and talented girl! All exclusive with djanemag.com!

DJANEMAG: Where are you from? Tell our readers a little about your childhood and how do you begin with music and Djing?

Rony Labelle: I am from Caracas, Venezuela. I love dancing, music and musical instruments since I was a child. I come from a very musical family, where my uncles were DJs —when DJs mixed vinyl records—. I started dancing in 2002. I moved to Spain and I started working as a go-go dancer at the best clubs in Ibiza and Madrid. In that period, I met many DJs and that awakened my curiosity about the DJ world. I learned mixing techniques from some of them and it was then when I became passionate about this job. My DJing style has a very Spanish touch, heavily influenced by club sessions in Ibiza.

DJANEMAG: Do you travel a lot? What countries or cities do you like most of all and why? Do you like to play in your native country?

Rony Labelle: Yes, I actually travel a lot. It is one of the advantages of this job. Spain is my favorite country to visit. I lived in Spain for eight years, so I have many friends there. I love the Spanish audiences as well. Venezuela is the best place ever. I love Venezuela and working in my native country is simply wonderful. I’d love to do it more often. Fortunately, more and more events are coming about and the audiences are very receptive.

DJANEMAG: What traits of character a girl should posses to achieve success in DJing?

Rony Labelle: Music must be in her blood and she must have perseverance. She also needs to be disciplined and properly trained. Learning has to be a constant process, regardless of gender. This job requires you to keep updated with many things, including music genres, as well as to have the ability to produce and play your own music.

DJANEMAG: Do you think that «Dj world» is men's world? In your opinion is it harder for girl to become famous Dj?

Rony Labelle: Not so long ago, the “DJ world” was a men's world; but today there are many talented female DJs demonstrating that we can make people dance, too. However, it is still harder for a woman to become famous as a DJ, but times are changing very quickly and I think that in less than 10 years women outnumber men around the world.

DJANEMAG: What challenges have you faced being a female DJ and how did you overcome them?

Rony Labelle: My second performance as a professional DJ was before 8,000 people at the famous Supermartxe party, in Palma de Mallorca, Spain. It was an experience I will never forget. I was very nervous, but I felt calmed as soon as I saw the excited audience. Their energy level was so high that it seemed that the walls of the venue were about to fall down. Then my fellow go-go dancers appeared as my dance corp and performed as part of the show. It was truly exciting. It was a great night with an audience that applauded strongly. For me, it was the closest thing to a religious experience I’ve ever had. I could say that it was my baptism in the DJ world.

DJANEMAG: What are your biggest sources of inspiration when you are mixing or producing music?

Rony Labelle: There are many DJs I admire. I look up to Hot Since 82 and Marco Carola. They are always in my music; they have a significant influence on it. I love including melodies combined with percussive sounds and even Latin rhythms in my mixes. I love the combination of acoustic instruments with electronics.

DJANEMAG: Is there any female Dj you admire and want to play with?

Rony Labelle: Of course, there are many female DJs I admire; Nicole Moudaber is one them. I think she is the best female DJ ever. She is always a hit! She is pure adrenaline! It would be a dream come true for me to appear with her.

DJANEMAG: Can you share your dreams and plans for future concerning Djing? What would you like to achieve?

Rony Labelle: I want to strengthen my career as a music producer and release my second track. Now I’m preparing a Tour of Mexico and there are several clubs in Europe and the United States I’d like to play at. I am also planning to visit South America; Brazil, Chile and Argentina are drawing my attention because of the big events that are taking place there.
